Kyesha Jennings
Kyesha Jennings is a multi-hyphenate creative whose research and writings on hip-hop, Black women, and popular culture reside both within and outside academia. She is an English Lecturer and Faculty Mentor at NC State University, where she teaches First-Year Writing.
Outside of academia, Kyesha is a freelance writer whose works have been published in a number of regional outlets. As a freelance writer, her main beat is North Carolina hip-hop, but she has extensive experience covering arts and culture and has recently tapped into covering topics on parenting and food (i.e., Black farmers, Black restaurants, etc.).
Additionally, in 2020 Kyesha was commissioned by the NC Arts Council to serve as a hip-hop content creator. With the financial support of the NC Arts Council, she has been able to direct/lead three multi-modal projects all centered around various aspects of North Carolina hip-hop.
